Updated: 401 Dauphin and City Council appeal

UPDATE: May 19, 2020 City Council Vote

On Tuesday, May 19, 2020 the Mobile City Council moved forward with further discussion and vote of our appeal of the Planning Commission’s decision to deny our application.

Our application sought to increase the occupancy load of our building to accommodate the historic renovation of this blighted building into a music and events venue.

You can watch the recording of the virtual council meeting at this link. The discussion and vote of the appeal begins at the 28:54 mark.

Unfortunately, the Mobile City Council voted to deny our appeal.

We cannot thank you enough for your support throughout this entire process. We could not have gotten this far without the support of the community members.

We will continue to communicate any updates or changes to the property at 401 Dauphin Street. Thank you again for your support!

Mobile City Council Update - May 12, 2020

We presented our appeal to the Mobile City Council on Tuesday, May 12, 2020. We were pleased with the direction of the discussion. The council members asked very relevant questions and we believe the discussion gave the members of the council some very important points to think about regarding what is best for the downtown economy and tourism industry.

You can watch the recording of the virtual council meeting at this link. Our appeal discussion begins at the 1:01 mark.

We know our project will be in harmony with the neighborhood if we are just given a chance to execute our business plan and begin our full restoration of this blighted building on Dauphin Street. We know the City Council members want to do what is best for downtown Mobile.

They plan to vote on our appeal on Tuesday, May 19, 2020.

You can still express your support by sending an email to 401dauphin@gmail.com and/or cityclerk@cityofmobile.org. All communication will be accepted and considered as long it is received one hour before the council meeting
